Treating a torn pectoral muscle near the heart?

Ok first off, while your pectoral muscle is in the area around your heart it's not actually close to it. Your heart is covered by your rib cage and the pectoral muscle overlays the ribs. So you really don't have to worry that putting hot and cold ice packs will do anything, because they won't. I have what's called costocondritis. The costal tendons around and along the length of my sternum are inflamed. Because they are in constant use while breathing it's taken a long while to heal. It's the same with any muscle or tendon that's used on a regular basis.
