Is the problem for the U.S. team the fact that they have an old team and no defense?

True, some of the U.S. players have some gas left in the engine, but lets look at the ages of some of their most important players and how it will affect them in 2014. Tim Howard is 32, Carlos Bocanegra is 32, Steve Cherundolo is 32, Oguchi Onyewu is 29, Clint Dempsey is 28, Landon Donovan is 29, Jermaine Jones is 29, and etc. Many of these players are facing the end of their prime years and will be far in their declining years as a soccer player. What's worse is that the younger players look completely unready for the big games. Freddy Adu, for once looked good, however I wouldn't blow this over if I were a U.S. fan...he has a habit of doing well once and then falling flat on his face and unable to put it together. Michael Bradley does okay on the offensive side of things, but he can't defend for the lif of him in the midfiel, and the U.S. defense just looked porous. Lichaj was horrible and so was Bornstein, but the rest of the defenders just looked overwhelmed and out-paced by a high speed Mexican attacking game. It seemed as though it wouldn't matter if the U.S. decided to defend only throughout the entire game because they wouldn't have been able to keep up with the attack from Guardado, Barrera, Dos Santos, and Chicharito. They were completely out-classed by a better team.
